We all know health and nutrition is an important part
of growing up. Not all of us were meant for the
traditional sports scene (football, basketball, baseball). We
want our kids to have a life long love of sport and continue their passion
for athletics. Most of us are not going to be 280lbs linebackers, seven
foot centers, or be able to hit a 100 mph fastball. Most
all of us can ride a bike or do some jogging. This is an
excellent opportunity to exercise with your kids.
We at the Rocket Sports Foundation, Inc. encourage you to be healthy role
models for your kids.
To have a child start riding with us they
need to have their bicycle checked over to have working brakes, gears,
tires, and other essential equipment. Bikes do not need to be
expensive, but the need to be properly sized in maintained.
Rocket Sports Foundation, Inc. has a good working relationship with most of
the bicycle shops in our area. If you live in the San Joaquin
County area and are not sure of a good bicycle shop, contact us and ask
We know them all!
With the Rocket Sports Foundation, Inc. most of our kids start out in the
Sprocket Rocket youth recreational rides. These rides are
excellent at teach you child safety skills, while having a great time with
other kids their own age (we target our lessons for kids between 8-11).
Most of the time parents ride along and help mentor their kids and offer
encouragement to other children.

Quite a few of the kids in our Sprocket Rocket program have developed a real
love for endurance sports. In order to encourage them we formed
a cycling and triathlon racing team in 2006. The program is now
called the JETS (Junior Elite Talent Squad) and is a licensed USA Cycling
and USA Triathlon Junior Development Race Team. Membership
on our team does require a racing license and commitment to serious
training. Folks often ask us what it takes to get their
kids racing. First, the kids has to have the desire themselves
to do it. Everyone wants to win on Sunday, but it is the ones that
train during the week who do well in the long run.
We tell parents about the cost and the "Three T's" of racing success.
It takes
Time (training),
Talent, and
Treasure (you have to have a
bike, buy a license, travel to races, and pay for entry fees).
Please feel free to contact us if we can be of assistance or check our or
